Have a question about ADHD assessments, referrals, or how the process works?

Your adult ADHD private assessment and support journey

To get an ADHD assessment with HealthHarmonie Minds, you don’t need to get a referral from your GP. However, we do ask for a copy of your care records.

Explore how our adult ADHD private service works below.

A clear step-by-step guide to assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing review.

Stage 1

Pre-assessment, Assessment and Outcome

Pre-Assessment

This stage gathers important information to confirm whether an ADHD assessment is appropriate and ensures your clinician has the necessary information to provide a safe and accurate evaluation.

referral
Referral Form
Complete a short self-referral form to provide information about your symptoms, medical history, and reasons for seeking an ADHD assessment.
Pre-Assessment Questionnaires
Pre-Assessment Questionnaires
You will be asked to complete structured questionnaires designed to help identify ADHD-related symptoms and understand how they may affect your daily life.
Clinical Review
Clinical Review
Our clinical team will carefully review your information to determine whether a full ADHD assessment is appropriate and will advise you on the next steps.
If the service is deemed clinically appropriate for your needs, you will be invited to progress to the comprehensive diagnostic assessment stage. If not, you will be provided with guidance and recommendations on appropriate next steps and support options.

Assessment

This stage includes:

Assessment A
Assessment Part A – Structured clinical assessment
A detailed ADHD assessment, using the Gold Standard DIVA-5 diagnostic tool to evaluate your symptoms and history.
Assessment B
Assessment Part B – Diagnostic review and outcome of assessment
A comprehensive diagnostic evaluation with a qualified ADHD clinician, who will determine whether you meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD.

Outcome and Clinical Report

Following completion of both assessment appointments, your clinician will confirm your diagnostic outcome. You will receive a detailed clinical report outlining the assessment findings, diagnostic outcome, and personalised recommendations for next steps.

Where ADHD is diagnosed, this may include treatment options such as medication, therapy, or ongoing clinical support. If ADHD is not diagnosed, your clinician will provide guidance on appropriate next steps and support options.

You will also receive:

  • Letter for your GP
  • Standard supporting letter (travel, university or employment)

Stage 2

Post Diagnosis Support and Treatment Options

If you are diagnosed with ADHD through HealthHarmonie Minds, or already have a diagnosis from another appropriately qualified healthcare provider, you may choose to access our treatment and support services independently. Following diagnosis, your clinician will explain the available treatment options and support you in deciding what is most appropriate for your individual needs. This may include medication, therapy, or a combination of both. You are under no obligation to proceed with treatment and may choose the option that best suits you. Please note, medication will only be prescribed where it is clinically appropriate and considered safe and beneficial for you.

Option A:
ADHD Medication Titration and Prescribing Support

If you choose to begin medication, our specialist prescribing clinicians will guide you through the titration process to safely identify the most appropriate medication and dosage for you.

This pathway includes one initial titration appointment and two follow-up review appointments with a specialist prescribing clinician. During these appointments, your clinician will:

  • Assess your suitability for ADHD medication
  • Issue private prescriptions where clinically appropriate
  • Monitor your response to treatment
  • Adjust medication and dosage as needed to achieve optimal symptom control

Additional follow-up appointments, if required, can be arranged and will be charged separately.
Private prescriptions are issued as part of this service, which can be taken to a pharmacy of your choice. Alternatively, you may obtain your medication through our partnered provider, Healistic. Please note, medication costs are not included and are payable separately to the pharmacy.

Option B:
Therapy

Some individuals choose therapy as a non-medication treatment option, or alongside medication, to provide additional support.

One-to-One Therapy Sessions

Personalised therapy sessions with a qualified psychologist, designed to help you understand ADHD and develop practical, evidence-based strategies to manage symptoms and improve your day-to-day functioning. Therapy can support areas such as organisation, focus, emotional regulation, and coping strategies tailored to your individual needs.

Stage 3

Ongoing care and support (optional)

Once your medication is stable, or if you choose non-medication support, ongoing care is available to help you manage ADHD safely and effectively over the longer term.

Shared Care with Your GP (Where Available)

If you have successfully completed medication titration and your treatment is stable, your clinician may recommend transferring prescribing to your GP through a shared care agreement. This allows your GP to continue prescribing your medication, with specialist oversight provided by Health Harmonie Minds where appropriate. Please note, shared care agreements are at the discretion of your GP.

Follow-Up Review Appointments

If shared care is not available, or if you prefer to continue your care privately, HealthHarmonie Minds can provide ongoing prescribing and clinical support. This includes follow-up review appointments with a specialist clinician to monitor your progress, review your response to treatment, and issue prescriptions where clinically appropriate, ensuring your treatment remains safe, effective, and clinically appropriate.

Extended Review Appointments (If Required)

Longer review appointments provide extended time for additional clinical support, where required or where a longer consultation is clinically appropriate – for example, during periods of increased academic, professional, or personal demand. Your clinician will advise you if and when a longer review appointment is clinically appropriate.

Annual Review

A specialist clinical review required for patients receiving ongoing ADHD medication, to ensure treatment remains safe, effective, and clinically appropriate.
Annual reviews may be required if you continue to receive private prescriptions through HealthHarmonie Minds, including where shared care prescribing is not available or has not been agreed by your GP.

Please note, if you continue to attend regular follow up appointments with HealthHarmonie Minds, an annual review may not be required, as your treatment and progress will already be monitored as part of your ongoing care.

Continued Therapy (Optional)

Additional therapy sessions with a qualified psychologist are available to provide ongoing support, helping you develop practical strategies to manage ADHD symptoms, improve daily functioning, and maintain long-term wellbeing.

Our team will guide you through your options and help you choose the most appropriate ongoing care based on your individual needs.
