Children and Young Person’s ADHD NHS (Right to Choose) Services
Our service model is designed to help you achieve the best possible clinical outcome, and aimed at six to seventeen and a half years old only. If the child is due to turn eighteen in the year, then it is better for them to wait and be referred into adult services as the care will transition midway.
Your timely engagement at each stage is essential, and all questionnaires need to be completed on schedule in order to move forward with their referral or there is a risk of discharge from service.
For the ADHD service, there are two key stages — Pre-assessment and Assessment:
Pre-assessment
This stage gathers initial information to determine whether an assessment is appropriate.

Initial referral for ADHD assessment (by healthcare professional).

Patient completes pre-assessment questionnaires.

Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) reviews case notes and questionnaires to confirm next steps.
Assessment
This stage evaluates the patient’s history and symptoms to reach a diagnostic outcome. A medical report for assessment A and B is drafted within 5 days after the assessment has taken place. The report will be sent in full to the patient and GP, after assessment B.

First assessment appointment is completed virtually and will take approximately 90 minutes.

This will take place face to face, taking approximately 120 minutes at Bhi Parkside Stourbridge Rd, Bromsgrove, B61 0AZ
Please note:
- The school report will need to be completed prior to moving forward with the referral. Parents or carers are encouraged to action this asap and prior to any planned school holidays, as this can extend the processing times.
- The same carer should be present throughout the process, if possible, to help with the best possible care of the patient.
- Please have a list of your current medications ready for each appointment.

Really great experience. Booking and rescheduling appointments were simple and stress free. I’m now waiting for my first titration appointment after diagnosis.
