Children’s ADHD NHS Services

Understanding your Right to Choose

If a child or adolescent lives in England, they and their carers have the legal right to choose who provides NHS mental health care, including ADHD assessments for children and young people from age 6 to 17. This means they or their carers can ask their GP to refer them to a provider like HealthHarmonie Minds, giving access to faster, high-quality ADHD assessments at no cost.

Why use Right to Choose?

Getting an ADHD assessment through the NHS can come with a long wait time – often lasting over a year. By using your Right to Choose, your children or adolescent can be referred to an NHS-approved provider, like HealthHarmonie Minds, and get their assessment in just a few weeks. They will still receive NHS-funded care, but with quicker access and support from a trusted, independent team.

Who is eligible for Right to Choose?

Children and adolescents are eligible if:

  • They live in England
  • They are registered with a GP in England
  • Their GP agrees that a referral for ADHD is appropriate
  • They are not already under the care of a local NHS mental health team for the same issue

If you’re unsure, speak to your GP or contact us – we’re happy to help guide you through the process.
